Being kind to yourself isn’t just a mindset. It’s a way of life. That’s because grace can be exercised daily.

When you choose your mental health, you can create a kindness aesthetic that suits your self-care lifestyle.

Here are 10 simple tips to help you get started.

With these habits, you’ll be able to embrace a beautiful mind that sows joyful seeds to others.

1. Establish Your Sense of Identity Through Learning to Be Kind to Yourself

First, it’s important to get to know who you are. And the act of kindness to self may be just the tool you need to do just that.

Self-compassion starts with how you treat yourself because you’re with yourself 100% of the time.

So, if you don’t know who you are, how can you be compassionate towards others and not towards yourself?

Look to what God says about you. He made you, and they know full well that he gave you your full identity.

Start by recognizing that you’re a kind person and a kind woman in your own right.

2. Remember That You’re Special

Once you’ve recognized your identity, the next step is reflecting on the love He has for you.

Simple things like remembering that the number of hairs on your head is counted can make anyone feel special. Remember that as part of your happy person aesthetic.

Could you take time out to count your hair? Well, I certainly couldn’t.

Also, consider making a list of all those things that make you feel loved.

You’ve probably heard of the SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) analysis.

This is typically used in formal settings, like businesses, to establish how the organization can shine in the face of competition.

So, with your journey to exercising self-love tips, it’s important to also look at the strengths you have.

A positive mindset shift is important here. That’s my kind of love that I extend to myself.

So, what are your strengths? Are you well-spoken? Confident? Do you just have a heart of gold or exceptionally organized?

Acknowledge your beautiful qualities and the kind words you say to yourself.

4. Be Kind to Yourself by Seeking Help

If you seem unsure about what your strengths are, my first advice would be to seek your Creator and ask Him what your good qualities are.

Also, consider asking your loved ones who know you quite well. Once you have found out, consider journaling down what you have found out.

So, take time out just to absorb those qualities so you can build courage.

They form a part of making you an awesome person who could spread love and light to the world.

5. Look at Your Weaknesses So You Can Understand How to Be Kind to Yourself

While it’s important to recognize your strengths, it’s equally valuable to understand your weaknesses.

Note that these aren’t flaws but serve as opportunities for growth.

This exercise isn’t to create a space to bash yourself. We’re not about that self-hating life in this community.

But rather, it’s about looking at your weaknesses from a place of neutrality and acceptance.

After all, we were not made to be perfect, and no matter how much you try, perfection will always seem like a goalpost that is being pushed further.

Your weakness also makes up part of your identity. Accept your emotions and embrace change with kindness to yourself and others.

These qualities are there to balance out who you are. Here is another bonus.

Weaknesses make space for you to welcome compassion from others. It’s okay to be yourself.

None of us was made to be perfect at all, and maybe that’s a good thing.

How else can we have self-kindness towards ourselves if we were spick and span all the time?

Even small doses of patience can inspire a daily encouragement routine.

7. Be Okay With Your ‘Imperfectly Perfect’ Traits

Write down the honest things you see in yourself, even ones you may not like.

For example, write down things like, ‘I’m a master procrastinator, or ‘I struggle with confidence. ’

It could vary to the point where you might feel like you are your own worst critic (I feel you). That’s okay.

Use positive thoughts to embrace your imperfectly perfect self while giving yourself some gentle love.

The whole point is to make peace with your imperfections, not punish yourself for having them.

8. Most Importantly, Forgive Yourself

I’m pretty sure we have heard about the importance of forgiving others.

Usually, the struggle that comes with forgiving others may come from a root cause of your struggle to forgive yourself.

That was the case for me. I think out of all these exercises so far, this one seems to be the most difficult of all.

Trust me, I know.

It has been said that unforgiveness is so dangerous that it can create unrealistic expectations of expecting to see the other person suffer for the pain you feel they caused you.

Even though you may be justified as you may feel, it’s not worth imprisoning yourself or others over the past.

Use kindness as a word of encouragement to let go of grudges.

9. Change The Way You Talk to Yourself

Consider changing how you talk to yourself.

I’ve often found myself in a place where, when I was being unkind to myself, it was evident in the way I thought and spoke about myself.

If you’re not careful, this could be a bad habit. This was a tough one for me, and it was assumed for many of us.

Before we become kind to others, we need to learn to be kind to ourselves.

Change the way you speak to yourself, practice self-kindness, and be kind to your mind.

Otherwise, you won’t be able to be compassionate to others.

10. Make Room For a Kindness Mindset in Your Life

Once the most important steps are not only forgiving yourself but also embracing a fresh start.

This creates space for good things, like love and understanding.

As a result, you may be in a space to learn to receive kindness that other people may extend to you.

This could happen in many ways.

Whether someone is willing to help you with a certain task, learn to accept it by saying ‘thank you’ instead of saying things like ‘You honestly don’t have to help me’.

If that person was willing to help you, it must mean they wanted to.

Embrace a kindness mindset and choose to be beautiful in your own way, radiating hope to others.
