Moms are awesome, aren’t they? So why not take time to celebrate them with thoughtful self-care tips just for moms?
Ready to dive in?
Let’s get started.
Why moms deserve some self-care
From the moment we came into the world, moms have always been there. My mom has and continues to be my protector, cheerleader, and source of guidance.
For many of us, we may remember how our mothers worked hard to raise us.
Do you find yourself wondering how your mom is still put together despite what’s required of her? Sometimes I do.
Therefore, why not find simple ways to give back?
One meaningful way to do it is to share self-care tips to help them feel more supported and relaxed.
The mental health impact of motherhood
According to Motherly, nearly 49% of moms feel burned out because of motherly duties.
As a result, this can often take a toll on their mental health. This makes self-care more important.
And it doesn’t have to be complicated.
If there’s one thing I love about self-care, it’s that it’s malleable to suit anyone’s lifestyle. I hope my tips will help you see that.
Learning to balance it all
Mothers juggle so many curveballs that are not only happening to them, but they must look out for their children, too.
Between work, family, and everything else on their plate, it can be easy for them to forget to take it easy on themselves.
I don’t know about you, but I think Wonder Woman needs to take a break from time to time. And some moms claim that they tend to feel guilty for taking time out for themselves.
But I hope to give a fresh perspective.
Self-care as a gift to moms
Many moms still struggle to find their feet by juggling other facets of their lives, such as employment, while attempting to be as present as they can.
I’ve seen from women around me how motherhood tends to demand so much from them.
So, carving out time for themselves seems to feel like a luxury.  Here’s a sign that it’s time to give back.
Additionally, this can be applicable in both ways, whether you’re a mom or you just want to give back to your mom, these self-care tips for moms can fit into those scenarios.
How to implement and enjoy self-care tips for moms
I’ve drafted a simple guide to implement simple self-care tips for you and your mom.
Although Mother’s Day is often the go-to holiday to celebrate moms, these tips and ideas can go beyond this day.
Here are some self-care suggestions you might want to share with your mother and put into practice for yourself if you are a mother.
Let’s dive into 5 simple self-care ideas to add to your self-care journey.
1. Have a supportive inner circle
Moms have a lot to carry.  One thing I’ve often heard from new moms is that they find it challenging to be kind to themselves during their new, life-changing process.
It’s no secret that having a supportive community is important.
Sometimes, moms need space to just talk. Maybe you can also relate. Â Call your friend. Talk to your sister. Spend some quiet time with your mom.
By spending time with your loved ones, you can have space to vent your frustrations and challenges.
I’ve noticed that spending time with my mom is more than enough for her. These moments could result in you feeling loved and reassured again.
Sometimes, hearing words like ‘You got this-you’re not alone’ can be incredibly uplifting.
2. Cherish your mind and body with little acts of kindness
It’s a good idea to always make time to look after your physical and mental health. Although it may be difficult for you, you’re still able to achieve it in simple ways.
Consider cutting out time to do something that you enjoy.
For example, if you are a tea lover, consider taking time out to brew a simple cup of tea, maybe a soothing white tea or calming chamomile tea.
These can be great options. If you’re a new mom, please check with your doctor first.
Another way to give back to yourself could be in the form of taking a five-minute break and asking someone close to look after your baby.
And if you’re looking for a way to give back to your mom, take that moment to spend time with her.
Even if it’s just to remind your mother how wonderful she is to you, express your appreciation for always doing her best for you.
3. Learn from fellow moms and experts
Sometimes, one of the smartest things a person can do is learn from others. And the same can be said about moms.
Learning from other moms and experts can add a boost of knowledge. We are lucky to live in a time when information is readily available whenever needed.
If you want to learn about the multifaceted aspects of motherhood, consider reading books written by experts, following mom content creators, and listening to podcasts from moms you relate to.
4. Establish a self-care routine
Taking time to exercise self-care is one of the most important things to do. A self-care routine can be just what you need to add positivity to your mental health.
Having a self-care routine can create structure in helping you take time out for yourself.
In this way, you’ll also feel motivated to get out of the burden of everyday responsibility just to breathe.
